Claiming our Professional Space: Order and Flow
Teaching requires a clearly dedicated and designated space in order for us to be able to express precisely the depth of our professionalism.
How do we go about designing and bringing into effect this dedicated teaching space, a space that bears our signature quality as a professional. All teachers are masters of routine and order. These are our 101 steps to laying a foundation that we can claim as truly ours.
This order does not only pertain to planning and curriculum documentation. The order referred to in this section pertains directly to the order within the classroom and the adage a ‘place for everything and everything in its place’.
The placement of objects in a classroom creates a sense of harmony and in that sense of harmony, all the movement within that classroom then naturally flow – both the movements of the teacher, the movements of the student and the movements of all others who enter.
Having established a true order and a sense of harmonious flow, we are then in the space of claiming our dedicated teaching area, an area that represents us all and all that we bring.
This section of the website looks at the minutiae, the precise details, that support every professional to claim their professional space in full by establishing a flow that becomes our personal unique rhythm that supports ourselves and all the students in our care.
